What does Youth Mean
THE PURPOSE OF THE YOUTH WING
It is essential for the continued existence and expansion of the Sathya Sai Organisation that Sai Youth/Young Adult groups be created and developed. Youth programmes must be interesting and beneficial to the youth in their secular life and youth activities should help the youth and young adults in their studies, career, personal development, self confidence and life in general.
This is a wing of the Sathya Sai Organisation aged between 16 and 35 years. We are made up of young individuals from all over the globe, from all cultural backgrounds, students, youth and those in the working field who come together with these two beliefs in mind:
LOVE ALL, SERVE ALL
HELP EVER, HURT NEVER
Youth groups are all over UK and these groups are guided by Youth Leaders and Youth Advisors. Under the guidance of Youth Advisors, the various energetic and effective Youth Leaders guide youth, young adults and bright-eyed teen youth (if they're not bright-eyed, by the time we are finished with them they will be!) through activities which incorporate the famous five human values - LOVE, TRUTH, PEACE, RIGHT ACTION and NON-VIOLENCE.
The various states and centres, plan and co-ordinate their own exciting programmes (after all, spirituality is fun) and they can be as creative and innovative as they wish in developing their programmes. Not only are the programmes fun but also they are designed to cater to the needs and issues of young people.
SAI YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Whether it be community service, performances or workshops, ALL ACTIVITIES focus on giving us an energetic, fun, creative and really healthy approach to everyday living!!! These activities make the most of our particular gifts, talents and interests. Everything comes back to - LOVE ALL SERVE ALL and HELP EVER HURT NEVER.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR YOUTH
Imbibe Baba's Teachings: Each youth must attempt to study, understand and imbibe into their daily lives Baba's teachings and this should be reflected in their conduct.
Understand the role of Sai Centers: All youth should understand the role of Sai Centres and the ideals the centres stand for. The youth should work towards unity at the centre and at state and national level.
Project Swami's highest ideal of Love: Youth should not be influenced by, be affected by, or get involved in differences of opinions or disagreements which may arise between adults of Sai Centres or between Sai Centres. The youth shall project Swami's highest ideal of Universal Love, Brotherhood and that of "Unity in Diversity" in all situations.
Follow Instructions: Youth shall at all times, follow the instructions and advice of the Centre Chairperson and the Youth Advisor where it involves the work and the activity of the centre.
Adhere to the Charter: The youth wing must adhere to the Charter of the Sathya Sai Organisation.
Know and Practice the Charter: It is imperative that state and centre Youth Leaders and Advisors are versed in the guidelines of the Charter. It is the duty of the state and centre Youth Advisors to ensure that the state and centre Youth Leaders are conversant with the Charter, and, in particular, the 9 Codes of Conduct and the 10 Principles.
Do service together, set example at Centers: Male and Female youth may work together, with a view to conserving resources, in all activities. However, in devotional singing and study circles, youth shall sit separately. Youth should always be mindful of Swami's teachings and control their thoughts, words and actions.
